Sodium Iodide (NaI) Pulser

MCA pulser

MCA pulser simulating NaI pulses from a PMT

The MCA pulser is a battery-operated device that simulates a PMT connected to a NaI(Tl) crystal.

The device turns off automatically when not connected, and turns on when connected to a 50 Ω impedance to ground. It generates pulses at a rate close to 10 kHz and will operate on the built-in battery for years.
