10B + ZnS:Ag Neutron Detectors

Our neutron detectors achieve high efficiencies at very high gamma-ray rejection by using a combination of pulse height and pulse shape discrimination. Even the largest detectors work well in 137Cs fields of 10mR/hour, and even 60Co fields of 10 to 20mR/hour.

The largest detectors meant for radiation portal monitors use 5cm-Ø vacuum photomultipliers for the light read out. Their power consumption is only 0.25W and they can be read via USB or used as a true 3He-tube replacement via their programmable-width 3.3V and 5V pulse outputs.

An embedded ARM processor provides stand-alone background tracking and Portal Monitor Alarms within 2s of closest approach.

Neutron detectors for portals

These are long neutron detector tubes, achieving efficiencies of σ=560cm2 in a 50cm-wide moderator. That is equivalent to 2.6cps per ng 252Cf at 2m distance.
