TwinBase Product Description

TwinBase TwinBase plug-on high voltage supplies - Embedded High Voltage

The TwinBase line combines a high-voltage generator and a voltage divider in one unit. They plug directly onto the photomultiplier socket.

Why Integrated?

We integrate the HV-generator with the HV-divider into one unit, the TwinBase, to guarantee optimal performance. No more guessing if your NIM HV supply is strong enough to handle the resistive base mounted on the PMT.

Why Embedded?

Avoid the hassle of external HV supplies requiring an AC mains power supply, or an electronics crate or chassis. Avoid expensive and potentially dangerous HV-cables. The TwinBase operates off low and save supply voltages ranging from 1.8 V to 5.5 V.

Low Power Regulated High Voltage Generator

Supply current vs HV for NP15-0530 The core of the TwinBase high-voltage generator consists of a transformer-based proportional unit with an output voltage that is a fixed multiple of the input voltage. A very low power control loop (ISS = 0.11 mA) provides for excellent load and line regulation.

The graph on the right shows the supply current of an NP15-0530 TwinBase at a supply voltage of 3.3 V.

At HV = 1000 V it consumes only 140 mW. And since Vss can be dropped to 1.8 V, the power consumption can be minimized to just 100 mW.

Transistorized High Voltage Divider

The TwinBase high-voltage divider creates the tap voltages for the dynodes of the photomultiplier. It presents a very small static load of 67 MΩ, which means it consumes only 15 μA at HV = 1000 V (i.e. 15 mW of HV power). But unlike a passive resistive divider, it can supply up to 100 μA DC-current with very minimal gain drifts of the photomultilier (<1% typ.)

Selection Guide

NP10-0530:
