A single USB cable, connecting the R2D to a computer is all that is required to begin acquiring nuclear spectra. Most of the time, NaI(Tl) will be the material of choice due to its low cost, high stopping power, high speed and good spectroscopic performance. CsI(Na) is recommended when highest stopping power and good energy resolution are required for high-energy γ-rays (>2 MeV).
